For the Catalan, Canigou is a highly praised symbolic mountain that inspired many popular songs and poems and that used to host the garnet and iron –among other raw materials– used by the local artisans.
The starting point is a silk hankie, a special and delicate piece that we will transform into a nice bowl or frame. Each hankie is obtained by pulling the thread from one cocoon. The latter is usually used to spin and get a continuous fibre that allows the weaving. The idea is to highlight the lightness and the transparency of the hankies, which contrast with the bright colours obtained with the dyeing. Search for your creativity thanks to a subtle material such as the hankie. You just need to know the basics of sewing with a sewing machine!
