Sant Hilari Sacalm

Sant Hilari Sacalm

Located in Guilleries mountain range, between the cities of Girona and Vic, Sant Hilari Sacalm is a village whose inhabitants and economy are closely linked to the use of the wood from their forests and of the water from their springs and rivers. The so-called “City of the hundred springs” invites you to hike or cycle through its natural paths and to discover its spectacular environment.

To understand the relationship between that landscape and the craft trades carried out by the local population, we recommend you to visit the Centre Artesà de la Torneria (where you will learn all about the profession of wood turner, the transformation of a piece of wood into a decorative object, and its importance for local economy throughout the years) and the Guilleries Museum (which hosts a large exhibition of native fauna and flora and explanations on “roders”, the people who used to make the hoops where the pieces of woods were fit in to make wine barrels or herring boxes).

And don’t leave without visiting Espai Aqua, an interpretation centre devoted to mineral water whose springs produce the water of some of the most prestigious brands of mineral waters!
